By Doug Stephens Amazon.com has announced that it will be opening it’s first brick and mortar store later this year, on New York’s iconic 34th Street. The question of course, is why? After all, isn’t Amazon the nemesis of brick and mortar retailers everywhere? And isn’t the whole strategy of e-commerce to avoid the cost and hassle of running stores? In my CBC Radio column this month I decided to take a closer look at what’s motivating Amazon to step offline, why other online players are doing the same and what the trend could mean for retailers and consumers everywhere!
